Asian Art Teacher Training
Series 2005 Asian Art Classes for Teachers 2005
K-8 teachers will explore the arts and cultures of Asia and interesting
ways to connect them to classroom lessons. Courses include lectures
and discussions with artists, curators and teaching colleagues as
well as tours, demonstrations and hands-on art activities. Open
to teachers only, salary point credit is available. All materials
and lunch are included. Admission is $5 per class. Course titles
and dates will be available in January 2005. Please call ext. 31
for reservations. Space is limited and reservations are required.

Reading Buddhist Art Teachers will learn to read the meaning of symbols
widely used in Buddhist art, and how followers of Buddhism use
this art as daily guidance to live a happy and meaningful life.

The Artt of the Japanese Sword: Beauty and Spirituality
Teachers will learn about the artistry and spiritual devotion that goes intocrafting
a Japanese sword of the highest quality. The day includes a tour of the exhibition
The Japanese Sword and then continues with a lecture about the importance of
Zen and Shinto beliefs on Japanese culture and its influence on their sword
tradition.
