Lunar New Year Festival
Celebrate the Year of the Sheep across Asia with a free day of performances, demonstrations, hands-on activities and gallery admission. Food trucks will be close by to satisfy hungry and thirsty visitors. The festival takes place inside the museum and in the tented parking lot, rain or shine.

Performances:
11 am Lion dance
11:30 am-12:30 pm Guangdong delegation performance (songs and dances, puppet show, acrobatics, magic show, martial arts, opera)
12:30-1:30 pm Break
1:30-2 pm Vietnamese dances
2-3 pm Guangdong delegation performance (songs and dances, acrobatics, opera)
3-4 pm Break
4-4:30 pm Korean dances and drumming
4:30-5 pm Taekwondo

Demonstrations:
Artisans from Guangdong was demonstrate the making of folk arts items including ceramics and pottery, lanterns, clay sculpture, miniature sculpture and embroidery.

Crafts & Activities:
Year of the Sheep group activity, sheep craft, lantern making, firecracker making, calligraphy workshop, etc.

Plus, zodiac animal book program with author Oliver Chin, and public tours of the museum.

Panel discussion of The First Wave: Modern and Contemporary Chinese Paintings in the USC Pacific Asia Museum Collection, featuring museum director Christina Yu Yu, PhD, Professor Richard Strassberg and Zheng Shengtian, who were both integral to the groundbreaking exhibitions of contemporary Chinese art in the United States first shown at the museum starting in 1987.
